Olney 2 - Fenny Stratford 5
Not going to over do this today, we walked off at half time somewhat dejected and unfortunately rightly so. One result does not undo all the hard work that you have put in this season, it is a shame though that we could not demonstrate the same amount of heart in the first half. We played the better football in patches, we probably created more chances, we were however a bit slow coming out of the blocks. Lloyd pulled off an oustanding save to tip the ball over the bar, there was nothing he could do about the two pile drivers that nestled in the back of the net.No shame in todays result, we demonstrated second half that we are a match for any team, the 3 -4-3 or even 3-5-2 actually showed how adaptable we are as a team and you have all matured in a footballing sense greatly this season. We could have scored 6 and maybe we should have, we could have folded at half time but we didn't, today probaly highlighted that you normally get out of a game what you put in. Outplayed in the first half but we more than held our own in the second, Freddy, Jack, Jake and Ollie Church defended bravely and with great composure. Harry and Callum linked well again and chased everything, Liam and Connor both netted for us and both were good finishes. Good to see Ollie Carmichael getting back to his best. Mr Jones and Max both undertook a 'Man Marking' role, a somewhat thankless job but both stuck to their guns. I said at half time that if we lost 7 nil and had competed that there was nothing to be ashamed of, we lost 5 - 2 and whilst the defeat hurts we should take some pride from our secondhalf performance. I won't comment on the Ref as it would be wrong for me to do so, not a fan of Managers doing it though as they find it very difficult to be impatial, today summed that up only to well. Thanks once again to the BOTS for the refreshments and to Ian for running the line. We have always bounced back after a defeat, lets keep that tradition up next week. The MOTM today goes to a defensive unit that worked hard, tackled strongly and took the bit between their teeth.....Jack - Jake - Freddy - Ollie Church....take a bow.
